The South Carolina Association of Schools Business Officials (SCASBO) launched the School Business Official Certification Program in the Fall of 2013 and Georgetown County School District’s Renee’ McKenzie and Brenda Ferguson are members of the inaugural graduating class.

The objectives of the certification program are to: Enhance knowledge for quality of job performance; Assist with maintaining required competencies; Encourage self-regulation and a high code of ethics; Provide professional recognition; And to raise the professional standards of local school business officials.

To achieve these objectives each participant is required to attend 40 instructional hours (10 hours in each category) in the areas of: Financial Management, School Finance, Financial Reporting and Auditing, and Capital and Debt Planning/Strategic Planning.

Upon completion of the instructional hours each participant is required to sit for a proctored exam which covers each area of instruction.
