Johnny Wilson, a board member for Georgetown County School District, has been recognized by the South Carolina School Boards Association (SCSBA) for 10 years of board service.

GCSD Board Chairman Jim Dumm recognized Wilson at the January 19 meeting.

Wilson is also a member of the SCSBA Board of Directors. He is the Region 3 Director, representing Georgetown and Berkeley counties.

Veteran school board members provide vision and valuable leadership for school districts. SCSBA and the local boards are happy to honor these board members for their long-term dedication to improving student achievement in their communities.

In 2015, in South Carolina, about 43 percent of the state’s 672 school board members have served four years or less, while 32 percent have 10 or more years of service.

SCSBA is a non-profit organization serving as a source of information and a statewide voice for boards governing the 81 school districts.

Congratulations, Johnny, and thank you for your dedication and service for Georgetown County School District!
