Alan Walters, Director of Safety and Risk Management for the Georgetown County School District was named the 2017 Risk Professional of the Year by the South Carolina Public Risk Management Association at its annual conference in Myrtle Beach on March 7.  The award recognizes an individual employed by a public entity for outstanding accomplishments in the field of risk management including overseeing risk and insurance related areas, employee benefits, safety, workers compensation and claims management.

The South Carolina Chapter of the Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) was founded in 1991 to provide public sector risk management professionals with opportunities to increase their knowledge and expertise in areas of risk management, safety, insurance and subsequent benefits to government and other public entities.

Through our education and networking events, SC PRIMA proactively supports the best interests of our members in their professional capacities by providing educational opportunities to assist them in developing and sustaining prudent, proactive risk management policies, and to network with their colleagues to exchange ideas and problem-solving solutions with their colleagues.

Walters was also recognized at the March 7 Georgetown County School District Board meeting.

Congratulations!
