GCSD recognized for outstanding financial reporting

The Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) and the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) have each recognized Georgetown County School District for its outstanding Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending 2016.

ASBO recognized the district with its Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for having met or exceeded the program’s high standards for financial reporting and accountability. This is the 24th consecutive year Georgetown County School District has earned this prestigious recognition from ASBO.

GFOA awarded the district its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This is the 23rd consecutive year Georgetown County School District has earned this recognition.

ASBO's Certificate of Excellence (COE) award confirms the district’s commitment to financial accountability and transparency.  Recognition through the COE program can help strengthen a district’s presentation for bond issuance statements and promotes high quality financial reporting.

GFOA's Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
