To help promote National Electrical Safety Month in May, Santee Cooper invited elementary school students in Berkeley, Georgetown and Horry counties to participate in Santee Cooper’s inaugural Electrical Safety Month poster contest. Students were encouraged to be creative and design a poster to show others how to be safe around electricity. Santee Cooper named three finalists, including Anna Marie Lopez-Chavez, who is a second grader from Kensington Elementary.

“Through the poster contest, Santee Cooper wanted to encourage students to learn more about safety around electricity, and to share that information with their families and school communities,” said Mike Poston, vice president of retail operations for Santee Cooper. “We were very pleased with the response. I’d like to congratulate our finalists, and also commend every student who entered for the work they put into researching and creating the designs.”

Congratulations, Anna Marie!
